Style, status and craft – the ubiquitous dining chair

From the earliest documented chairs in ancient Egypt through to iconic designs such as the 17th century Wainscot, the 18th century Fauteuil and early American Chippendales, no other item of furniture has been invested in with more care, design and craftsmanship than the dining chair. Swaying between practicality of form and in latter years, style over substance, the evolution of artisan techniques means that today neither comfort or exquisite design need to be compromised when selecting a chair. Here at Kassavello we thrive on selecting the very best dining chairs for our curated collection of branded furniture.

The esteemed Turkish novelist and thinker, Mehmet Murat ildan famously said “There is something much better than sitting on an empty chair and that is to watch it and to let it to inspire you to think deeply!”. We could sit all day and be inspired by the Julius studded brass chair….a fusion of sumptuous luxury and daring intrigue, this chair is perfectly suited to a glamorous dining space or perhaps as a statement seat in a personal office. A hooped studded brass frame supports plush velvet upholstery that you can sink into for the finest dinner gatherings.

A mid-century modern classic, the Zukie dining chair is perfectly formed from a figured oak structure with a high gloss varnish. With accents in cream lacquer and finished with a high gloss varnish this piece offers a timeless and refined reinterpretation of the iconic 1950’s design aesthetic.

Taking inspiration from the 1920’s use of tubular metal (originally said to be inspired by the metal handlebars on designer Marcel Breurer’s bicycle!) the Pure dining chair updates the somewhat sober lines of that era into a more luxurious form. A curved polished brass frame hugs the contours of the body whilst elegant leather wraps the generously padded seat and curved back rest achieving both style and comfort. The sleek and versatile form of the Pure chair is sure to compliment both residential and commercial interiors.

Guatemala was the stage of one of the most important discoveries in the twentieth century – the Naj Tunich cave, formerly used by the Maya as a ritual pilgrimage site. Inspired by the entrance to this historical cave, the back of the NAJ Dining Chair opens up to form a striking modern piece. Fully upholstered in cotton velvet with nickeled nails this chair is sure to make a statement in any room.

Exuding vintage glamour, the Chandra dining chair is both bold and daring. Polished brass bands delicately bind the chair highlighting the sculpted fluidity of the tight back upholstery. Shown here in a satina lux fabric, this chair can be customised with a wide variety of sumptuous textures and colours.
