Our select group of manufacturers provide a hallmark of quality and professionalism that we know we can trust and confidently recommend to clients who demand the very best in interior design standards. However, the extra attention to detail that results from our manufacturer\u2019s strong sense of tradition and unprecedented pride is a Unique Selling Point that is difficult to communicate in a glossy brochure or through pixels on a screen.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why we decided to take some of our clients to our homeland; to meet our manufacturing teams and experience first hand the unique flavour of our furniture ranges\u2026 and okay, to sample the delicious flavours of our food along the way!<\/p>\n

This was the first \u201cMeet the Maker\u201d trip we have undertaken at Open Plan Living and we\u2019re sure it won\u2019t be the last. Our visit to the upholstery workshop was equally insightful for our visitors who we able to form a complete picture of how specific pieces are created from design through to completion. The spacious and comfortable Golf Sofa set a few hearts a flutter, (insert image) but there was no time to spare lounging around, as of course we needed to fit in a spot of sightseeing whilst visiting the beautiful region of northern Portugal.<\/p>\n

We hit the hotspots of vibrant Porto and also explored the ancient city of Braga, home to one of the most iconic churches in Portugal, The Sanctuary of Bom Jesus. We also took a ride on the oldest water run Cable Car, dated from 1882!<\/span><\/p>\n

And if the culture wasn\u2019t enough to leave our guests hungry for more Portuguese delights, the cuisine certainly was. Gastronomic delicacies such as octopus, monkfish rice, cod, clams and the famous “bolinhos de bacalhau” (cod fish cakes) were served with the same creative flair and local pride that we had witnessed in our manufacturing visits, proving that in Portugal, passion is at the heart of everything we do.<\/p>\n
