Maison et Objet 2019 Insights- A great celebration

The life of a designer can be frantic at the best of times so it’s wonderful to have the opportunity to step back from the day to day pressures of projects and take time out to get inspired. Maison et Objet, the bi-annual industry gathering of thousands of product designers, brands and interior designers provides the perfect opportunity to do just that. From elite design houses such as Fendi Casa and Missoni through to boutique artisans, Maison et Objet never fails to inspire the Kassavello team and January’s Paris exhibition was no exception. Here are our five headlines and picks of this year’s key trends:

1. IT’S A JUNGLE OUT THERE

There is seemingly no stopping the holistic trend for biophilic design. Connecting with nature in the home as a tool to relieve stress and trigger the brain into a relaxed state, is increasingly becoming a core element of residential design. Greenery, botanicals, natural woven textures such as rattan and organic shapes peppered a multitude of stands at Maison. Indulge yourself in the jungle trend with our Feline rug and Wormley Cane chair.

2. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE CURVES

The trend for curves and lozenge shapes has been growing steadily since its emergence at last year’s
Salone de Milano. Filtering through to a diverse range of furniture and products from sumptuous
sofas to glamorous mirrors, these curves are making a statement all of their own. Create an
antidote to an angular space with our two part Odette sofa or daring Opal console.

3. PASTELS COME OF AGE

From dusky blues to dusty pinks and soft greens, there’s nothing sickly sweet about these tones.
Sophistication and subtlety are the name of the game and we adore the effect when they are combined. Channel the perfect palette with our Ambar and Alperce chairs.

4. DARING DESIGN THROUGH THE AVANT GARDE

At Kassavello we love hero pieces, so unusual you can’t help but be drawn to their humour, their sense of daring or their quirky form. Whilst Maison Objet is well known for its eccentric pieces this year’s display was regularly punctuated with the avant garde. Add sex appeal and intrigue to your living space with our whimsical Tabu coffee table.

5. ACCESSORIZE WITH APLOMB

The rearrangement of January’s exposition placed the finest accessories alongside larger pieces of furniture and lighting. The result – a fusion of fabulous detail and the opportunity to visualise your scheme brought to life by the most exquisite pieces. Accessorize with aplomb using our Escape tray, some fine cut crystal and a dash of February fizz!
