There was a time when velvet was the height of sophistication. In both fashion and interior design, a flash of velvet would signify wealth and status, as well as good taste. Over time, the fabric fell out of favour but, here at Kassavello, we’ve always had a soft spot for this softest of furniture adornings. Which is why we were so happy to find that velvet was back en vogue, and going strong for 2018.
But is it easy to find? Excitingly, yes! Velvet is being used more and more in interiors both commercial and residential, giving us the chance to enjoy the texture in and out of the home. Showcased this year mainly in a range of the most opulent of shades, velvet has seen a revival in both jewel tones (another of 2018’s hot takes) and the increasingly popular millennial pink, adding a welcome touch of luxury to the most minimalist of spaces.
At Kassavello, we practice what we preach, meaning that when we say we love velvet, we prove it by offering velvet furnishings as a part of our extensive range. Below, we share some of our most popular pieces:
Handmade in Portugal, Duistt’s Dawn Bench is the glamorous answer to additional seating, ideally placed in both residential and commercial settings.
The Andes sofa, from BRABBU, emulates the grandeur of the world famous Andes mountains, standing with a graceful presence that leaves guests wanting more.
Adding refinement to a room designed for debauchery, BRABBU’s Bourbon bar chairs embody the royalty, class and luxury of the Bourbon dynasty, represented by Louis XIV.
Handmade in Portugal and available as a bespoke item, the Lune V Stool from Duistt ‘completely reinvents the concept of practical space saving seating.’ Making a fashionable statement within the home, the stool adds a touch of prettiness to any interior, and would be perfectly placed in a stately dressing room.
Opulent and chic, the Soneto swivel armchair from Bow & Arrow adds a dramatic flair to a stunning interior.
A contemporary update to a club house classic, Duistt’s Julius Brass armchair is a decadent work in brass and velvet, effortlessly oozing sophisticated charm.
Described as ‘lux and bodacious,’ KOKET’s beautiful Kelly bed is ‘the cool girl sipping Cosmos in the dark corner of a chic NYC lounge. Her fluid curves are harmoniously matched by sumptuous pleated waves of supple velvet upholstery fabric.’ Arguably the most luxurious way to end your day.
